8th December: Widow's Peak
Widow's Peak is a wild tasting adaptation of the Widow's Kiss and later Phil Ward's (Death & Co bar, NYC) 2007 Wicked Kiss. We created this for 'Soft Apocalypse' at the Averard Hotel, an evening discussing the works of Richard Brautigan.
Ward's version stirs Rittenhouse 100 proof Rye alongside Apple Brandy, Yellow Chartreuse & Benedictine D.O.M liqueur.
It's complex, strong, but really works if you're in to powerful, herbal drinks. Perfect sipping on a cold snowy night!
We've opted for Michelberger Booze 'Mountain' 45% instead of Rittenhouse Rye, swapped the Benedictine for Meletti and tweaked the ratios for better balance with the schnapps...
40ml MICHELBERGER MOUNTAIN | 25ml KINGSTON BLACK APPLE APERITIF | 10ml YELLOW CHARTREUSE | 10ml MELETTI AMARO | ANGOSTURA BITTERS | APPLE BITTERS
**Stir all ingredients together over ice. Strain into a short glass and add Angostura bitters and, if you can get hold of them, a dash or two of Apple Bitters (Bar Keep make a good bottle).**
